Dr. Junfeng (Jim) Zhang

Junfeng Zhang, Ph.D., is a Professor of Global and Environmental Health at Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment, specializing in environmental health and policy. With a Ph.D. from Rutgers University, he focuses on developing novel biomarkers for human exposure and health effects, assessing health and climate benefits of air pollution interventions, and understanding biological mechanisms of environmental exposures' adverse health effects. Dr. Zhang's significant contributions include leading international collaborations on air pollution health effects and intervention trials for air purification, recognized by over 290 peer-reviewed publications and prestigious awards like the Jeremy Wesolowski Award. Dr. Yan Lin

Yan Lin, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral associate at DGHI working with Dr. Jim Zhang. Yan has broad research interests on the health effects of air pollution. He received his PhD in Environmental Health Sciences from UCLA, where he focused on developing new biomarkers to identifiy the early cardiovascular effects of air pollution. His postdoctoral research will focus on air pollution's adverse health effects on birth outcomes.

Ruoxue Chen

Ruoxue is a second year Ph.D. student at Nicholas School of Environment. She gained her master’s degree (MEM) at Nicholas School of Environment in May 2022. Her master’s project focused on vegetative cover, urban heat, and heat-related illnesses among formerly redlined communities in Durham, North Carolina. She is currently interested in the interplay of indoor, outdoor air pollution and climate change, as well as using novel biomarkers to analyze how indoor air pollution affects human health.
